REMEMBERING TO TAKE TIME FOR OURSELVES

Whether you’re a mom, you work, you’re a student, a mom working from home, women tend to forget the importance of putting themselves first. Oftentimes we’re caught in the repetitive cycle of “what do I need to do next?” when we should be wondering when we should take a break. Let’s take a moment to remember why it’s important to step back and take care of ourselves.

Why Is It Important?

There’s no one reason to explain the importance of taking a moment to yourself. Do you ever feel stressed out and you don’t know why? Do you ever feel exhausted, even after staying home all day? Do you ever just feel suffocated? Those could all be signs from your body letting you know that you need a break. If we don’t keep in mind that self love is just as significant as loving and caring for others, we won’t be able to maintain the physical or mental capacity to care for anyone else. In order to love someone, you must begin by loving yourself.

What Does It Mean to Love Myself?

Loving yourself is to care for your well being just as much as you would care for another. That means being kind to yourself. Look in the mirror from time to time and remind yourself how awesome you are. Take a break when you feel tired or stressed out. Don’t beat yourself down when you make a mistake and build yourself up when you accomplish something small. “You are your worst critic.” A statement you’ve probably heard a hundred times over but a statement that should reassure you that your faults are only as negative as you make them. Make your faults a means to drive you to be the best version of yourself instead of a force that drags you down.

How Can I Practice Self Love?

Get In Some Movement

Go for a run, or a walk, or a pilates class. Get yourself moving so that you feel productive throughout the day.

Nourish Your Body and Eat Healthy

Switch out the foods in your diet that make you feel tired and weak. Make it a point to be healthy so that you can push your body further,  without exhausting it.

Take a Break

Don’t sit at your computer for longer than 50 minutes at a time. Ask your husband to take over when you need a break from the kids. Have a cup of coffee without getting disrupted.

Drink Water to Keep Yourself Hydrated

Set a goal to drink the proper amount of water everyday. This will give you small goals to fill and make your skin look great.

Spa Day

Since going to a spa right now is kind of hard, have an at home spa day. Invite your sisters over for face masks. Take a long bath and ask not to be disturbed.

Shop (at Veiled Collection)!

Spoil yourself! Not much else to it.

Take a Nap

Get your beauty sleep in and take a nap when you need it.

Take Yourself on a Date

Set your calendar. Block out a time on your schedule to do something you really enjoy. Set candles, cook a steak, order yourself a slice of cake. Do something for you.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Value the relationship you have with yourself.

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” - Lucille Ball
